Yograj Singh takes indirect dig at MS Dhoni: “burned own houses to stand for one person”

Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has once again launched an attack on ex-Indian captain, an indirect one this time. Yuvraj Singh’s father has been a vociferous critic of MSD in the past and has blamed him for spoiling the careers of many stars. Yograj claimed that Dhoni had single-handedly changed a long-time trend in Team India, spelling doom for the future.

Yograj blames Dhoni again

In an exclusive interview with InsideSport, Yograj claimed that Team India used to be a combination of fathers & sons and elder brothers & younger brothers. He referred to the period of before and during Sourav Ganguly as captain and pointed out how older and experienced players co-existed with youngsters, ultimately leading the latter to become the greatest of all time. Without naming MS Dhoni, Yograj took a dig at the former captain noting that India had burnt their own houses to stand for one person.

We (team India) burned our own houses to stand for one person. Team India used to be like a family of older brothers and younger brothers (experienced & youngsters). But it all changed because of one person,” Yograj said.

“Careers of 7 players put into gutter”

Yograj riposted that the selectors moved away from the legends of Indian cricket right away the ODI World Cup 2011. He even pointed out the incident when Mohinder Amarnath, who was the BCCI selector in 2011 and 2012, wanted to sack MS Dhoni.

You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason,” claimed Yograj Singh while speaking exclusively to InsideSport. “Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011.”

The likes of Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag didn’t get to celebrate their farewell matches. Within a span of 18 months or so after the World Cup victory at home, almost all the cricketers were out of contention or were phased out.
