Indian women’s cricket team’s star duo Yastika Bhatia and Pooja Vastrakar along with all-rounder Humairaa Kaazi have joined the Mumbai Indians camp ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, starting on February 23.
The Indian trio took to the nets for the their first practise session, after a conversation with the coaching team.
The defending champions focused on range hitting in their batting session on Sunday.
“The players got a choice today at the session with range hitting and any specific shot they want to work on. Some players also repeated what they worked on in the previous session. Some of them play a finisher’s role like Pooja, Amanjot, Sajana and Kaazi, so we focused on range hitting”, With one-on-one emphasis on batting”, said batting Coach Devieka Palshikaar.
WPL 2024 will kick off with Mumbai Indians facing Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru on February 23. The second season will follow the same format with five teams competing in the second season. Besides Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz are the other three teams.
