The WPL 2026 Auction is around the corner, and as per a report in ESPNCricinfo, two Indian players — Renuka Thakur and Deepti Sharma have been listed in the marquee set. The others in fray are New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Australia’s Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, England’s Sophie Ecclestone, and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt.
Deepti Sharma set to break records at WPL 2026 auction
In that too, Renuka and Wolvaardt happen to be the only players who have kept their base price under 50 lakh — at 40 and 30 lakh, respectively. Additionally, 277 players have registered for the WPL 2026 auction, which is supposed to take place in Delhi on November 27.
As far as the available slots is concerned, five teams have only 73 slots left to be filled. Out of that only 23 foreign players can be sold — in what happens to be the first-ever mega auction in the history of WPL. As far as the WPL 2026 retentions is concerned, team UP Warriorz sprung a massive surprise when they retained only Shweta Sehrwat and let go names like Deepti, Healy and Ecclestone.
