T20 Mumbai League 2025 is all set to take place between May 26 to June 8. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has asked all their players to take part in the tournament. While Rohit Sharma has been unveiled as the face of the tournament, other icon players include Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube among others.
Will stars in T20 Mumbai League miss India A tour?
The T20 Mumbai League 2025 is set to coincide with the India A tour to England which will precede the five-match Test series that commences from June 20. It is pertinent to point out that the BCCI has already shortlisted 35 cricketers for the India A tour and it includes skipper Rohit.
But will Rohit, Iyer and Rahane’s participation in T20 Mumbai League 2025 mean they will miss the India A tour? The answer is simply no. If named as a part of the India A side, then the players will prioritize national duty over league cricket and will travel with the team to England.
Rohit is all but confirmed to travel to the UK with the India A team. As per a Times of India report, Sarfaraz Khan is highly unlikely to be picked as the selectors aren’t confident about his ability. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Rahane will earn a comeback for the England series. After all, he has been out of the Indian side for nearly two years now, having played his last Test in 2023.
Similarly, the board is yet to take a call on Shreyas Iyer. The Mumbai batter had last played in whites in 2024 following which he was snubbed from the BCCI central contracts. Subsequently, he was dropped from the Test team as well.
However, both Rahane and Shreyas have been in good form, and fared well in the Ranji Trophy campaign. And their form in white-ball cricket has also been impressive. It remains to be seen if they will be given a chance in England to return to the Indian side.
