Who is Sridharan Sriram? Chennai Super Kings appoint new assistant coach for IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed Sridharan Sriram as their new assistant coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on February 24. Sriram is a former Indian cricketer who represented India in eight ODI matches between 2000 and 2004.

Who is Sridharan Sriram?

Sridharan Sriram is an Indian cricket coach and former cricketer. A skilled left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spinner, he featured in both the Indian Cricket and the Indian Premier League. He was a key member of the Indian squad that finished as runners-up in the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy. On August 19, 2022, Sriram was appointed as the technical consultant for Bangladesh’s T20I team, a role he held until the 2022 T20 World Cup.

A proficient left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spinner, Sriram boasts extensive experience at the domestic level, having amassed over 13,000 runs.

Following his playing career, he took on coaching roles, serving as the spin bowling consultant for the Australian cricket team on multiple occasions. The 49-year-old also worked as the technical consultant for Bangladesh during the 2023 World Cup and has been associated with various IPL franchises in coaching capacities.
