A day India cricket team fans will never forget. A memory that has been etched in every fan’s brain and found itself a place in Indian cricket folklore. On this day in 2019, the India cricket team became the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, Team India conquered Down Under and took the 2018-19 Border Gavaskar Trophy home.
India started the 4-match Test series in Adelaide and got off to a great start. Cheteshwar Pujara starred with the bat in the first Test and gave everyone a glimpse of what was about to come. His 194 runs in Adelaide helped India secure a 31-run win and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
However, the Aussies fought back and leveled the series 1-1 in Perth. This loss did not stop India. Virat Kohli and his men roared back in style, thrashing Australia in Melbourne and winning the third Test by 137 runs.
Having gained a 2-1 lead in the series before heading to Sydney, the India cricket team already had one hand on the trophy.

The last Test was marred by rain, but that was all India needed. A match that saw Virat Kohli and co. score 622 runs with Daddy hundreds from Pujara and Rishabh Pant.
For his 521 runs in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Pujara was aptly named the man of the series. His old-school style of playing 1258 balls and grinding the Aussie into the ground. But it wasn’t just him that made merry in Australia.
It was India’s pace bowling trio that helped them win their first-ever Test series in Australia. Jasprit Bumrah took 21 wickets, while Mohammed Shami claimed 18 wickets in four matches. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma played three matches and took 11 wickets to help the India cricket team win.
