Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey had a lucky escape against West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph after a delivery failed to dislodge the bails despite the ball brushing past it. Carey would have been the visitors’ sixth victim in the 1st innings as Australia lost a flurry of wickets in the AUS vs WI 2nd Test.

The ball went on to edge past the bail, making contact in the process before it was caught by keeper Da Silva. The wicketkeeper immediately appealed, having heard the sound from behind. A few replays later, it was clear that the ball had indeed brushed past the bails but the bails were not dislodged and it simply spun in the groove.

A fiery Kemar Roach was instrumental in sending half of the side back to the pavilion as he grabbed three wickets. Alzarri Joseph joined the fray, scalping a couple of wickets, as Australia struggled to get going against the Windies.
