Amid all the controversy around the U19 World Cup 2024, the focus has been shifted from players to politics instead. The tournament will see 16 teams, divided into four groups of four, fight for the prestigious trophy.
The event has had a rich history, with many greats of the game like Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes, etc. marking their mark at the event before exploding on the international scene. Players from the current India cricket team will also have the opportunity to do so.
U19 World Cup 2024: India players to watch out for
The India 19 team is coming in fresh off playing a tri-series against the hosts, South Africa and Afghanistan. The series, which was won by India, saw Uday Saharan score 112 against the Proteas in the final and help his side win. In their U19 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against Australia, Saharan top scored once again with a well-made 74.
In the ACC U19 Asia Cup, Arshin Kulkarni was India’s top scorer, while Raj Limbani caused a stir by taking 7/13 (9.1) against Nepal. In the tri-series, vice-captain Saumy Pandey claimed the most wickets for India and impressed with his 6/29 against Afghanistan.
