The fans on the social media questioned Virat Kohli’s strike rate during the IPL 2025 final match being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kohli may have been assigned the anchor’s role by the RCB team management, but questions were raised over the viability of such a tactic, especially considering Punjab Kings’ explosive batting line-up.

Phil Salt started aggressively, taking on Arshdeep Singh in the left-armer’s very first over. However, the England opener fell in the second over, bowled by Kyle Jamieson, while attempting another big shot.
Kohli, meanwhile, was content with singles and doubles, even after being joined by Mayank Agarwal. While Mayank showed attacking intent early on, the RCB duo largely resorted to rotating strike towards the end of the powerplay.
Shreyas Iyer, who took a fine catch while running backwards to dismiss Phil Salt, was spot-on with his captaincy—nailing field placements and building pressure on the RCB batters.
Kohli managed only 13 runs off 10 deliveries in the powerplay, striking just one boundary during the fielding restrictions. The pitch remained batter-friendly, making Kohli’s conservative approach all the more baffling.
