Team Versatile’s Saumraj Reflects on BGIS 2025 Triumph and Krafton’s Support

In a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, Team Versatile emerged victorious at the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 Grand Finals, claiming the coveted trophy and a substantial prize of ₹69,60,000. Following their remarkable win, Insidesport’s Sub-Editor Vivek Singh caught up with the winning team’s captain and in-game leader (IGL), Saumraj, to delve into his emotions, experience with Krafton’s BGMI Rising Stars program, and his thoughts on the evolving BGMI esports scene.

Q. Congratulations on winning the BGIS 2025 Grand Finals! How are you feeling right now? Can you describe the emotions going through the team?

Saumraj: I’m not feeling anything particularly strong right now. I think the first time we won a trophy, it brought a very different kind of emotion. Now, I seem to be going through a mix of feelings, so I’m not sure when the actual overwhelming emotion will hit me. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Krafton’s Role in Nurturing Talent through BGMI Rising Star Program

Q. You are one of the esports players selected for the BGMI Rising Star program. How exactly is Krafton helping you in your growth?

Saumraj: First, I’d like to thank Krafton India for choosing me for the BGMI Rising Star program. I registered for it and luckily got selected as I met all the criteria and other requirements. After the announcement of my selection, I had a photoshoot, and an airdrop arrived in my room filled with things that will help me grow my social media channels. The rest of the details will be revealed shortly, and I’m not at liberty to disclose them now. So, please stay tuned.

Q. Who is the first person you wanted to share the BGIS 2025 victory with?

Saumraj: I celebrated the BGIS 2025 victory with everyone. But the very first people I wanted to share it with are my parents. I was at home for around nine months after experiencing multiple boot camps, and it was a different situation for me. Deep down, I felt bad being at home, not earning anything and just playing the game.

There was no support from anyone except my mom. She supported me day and night, from providing food to everything else. I used to play the game constantly, and my mom would bring food for me then I would eat. I believe my mom and dad will be very happy now.

Q. What are your views on the increased prize pool by Krafton India through the in-game Crate system? Should they continue this in upcoming events?

Saumraj: It’s a very nice initiative by Krafton India. It’s a great thing that when you open a BGIS 2025 crate, a portion of the sum gets added to the prize pool. I even asked them that if these crate items weren’t good, why include them? And they said it’s a trial for now, but they’ll give us more in-game items, and this will increase the prize pool even further.
