Team India trains at Lord’s, Australia forced to make 3hr trip after access to WTC Final venue denied

Australia’s preparations for the World Test Championship Final took a hit on Saturday. Pat Cummins and Co made a 3hour journey to London to train at the venue only to be denied access 4 days before the summit clash. The reason? Team India, led by Shubman Gill, were practicing at the venue ahead of the India vs England series.

Pat Cummins and Co denied Lord’s practice before WTC Final, India train instead

As per a Code Sports report, the Australian cricket team were denied permission to practice at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Saturday. The report states that Pat Cummins and Co were told that the ground was not available. At the same time, Indian cricket team had their training session at the venue ahead of their series against England.

The India vs England series kicks off on June 20, 5 days after the WTC Final 2025 ends. Furthermore, the Men in Blue only return to the Lord’s for the IND vs ENG 3rd Test, which is more than a month away. Regardless, it was Gill and Co who had access to train, while Australia were forced to head back. Fox Sports states that Cummins and Co. had to make a 3-hour trip to find an alternate venue to train for the clash against South Africa.

They were, however, allowed access on Sunday, with Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne all having a bat. India, meanwhile, moved their camp to Beckenham with WTC Final preparations in full swing at Lord’s.

Both South Africa and Australia have training sessions at the venue on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Steve Smith and coach Shukri Conrad will address the media, with the captains scheduled for Tuesday. The WTC Final 2025 will kick off on Wednesday, June 11.
