Tata set to retain IPL title sponsorship rights for Rs 2500 Crore

Tata Group has pipped Aditya Birla Group to retain IPL title sponsorship rights for five years as windfall of cash continues for BCCI. The Indian conglomerate will shell out Rs 2500 Crore for five years or Rs 500 for each season starting with IPL 2024. Tata Group also holds the rights of Women’s Premier League.

As per Cricbuzz, Tata could match any final bid. And as Aditya Birla Group bid Rs 500 per season, Tata Group decided to match that amount. The deal will run till 2028.

Windfall for BCCI

Tata Group took over the IPL title sponsorship rights from Vivo for Rs 670 Crore for two seasons (IPL 2022-23).

But with the hike in per-year sponsorship amount, BCCI will earn Rs 500 Crore a season, Rs 165 Crore more each season, starting IPL 2024.

IPL Title Sponsors

DLF (2008-12): $100m for first four years, extended to $150 for five years.

Pepsi (2013-15): Rs 396 Crore for five years

Vivo (2016-19): Rs 200 crore for 2016-17, renewed to Rs 439.8 crore for 18-19

Dream11 (2020): Rs 222 crore.

Vivo (2021): Rs 439.8 crore

Tata (2022-23): Rs 670 crore for two years
