SRH, MI players observe one-minute silence, to pay tribute to Pahalgam attack victims

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) began with a one-minute silence. The crowd, players and officials paid tribute to the lives lost in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

That is not enough. Players sported black armbands to show their solidarity with the people who lost their lives in the ghastly attack. Like is the norm before every IPL match, there were no fireworks fireworks, and also no cheerleaders witnessed on Wednesday.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said, “The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday.”

“On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy,” he added.

SRH and MI captains expressed their grief

SRH captain and MI captain expressed their grief for the people who have lost their lives and offered their condolences to the families of the deceased. SRH skipper Pat Cummins said at the toss, “It has been heartbreaking for us as well, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Meanwhile, MI skipper Hardik Pandya had a special message for the affected. “I would like to pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack,” the all-rounder said.
