It has been five years since one of the greatest unsung heroes of Indian cricket breathed his last. Ramakant Achrekar who nurtured a young boy named Sachin Tendulkar to make him the greatest cricketer ever. On his fifth death anniversary, Sachin Tendulkar paid heartfelt tribute.
“If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes.” – Guy Kawasaki.
“My teacher was definitely my hero – the man who taught me so many lessons with love and discipline in equal parts. Remembering Achrekar Sir fondly on his death anniversary,” Sachin Tendulkar said in a tweet.

An iconic name in Mumbai cricket circle, Ramakant Achrekar shaped Sachin Tendulkar’s career. He even took Sachin on his scooter to play matches.
But Tendulkar wasn’t the only famous student. Vinod Kambli and Ajit Agarkar both went on to play for India. His other student Chandrakant Pandit is one of the famous coaches in Indian domestic circuit.
