Sikandar Raza’s stellar form has finally catapulted him to the top of the ICC ODI all-rounder rankings, making him the first-ever Zimbabwean to reach this position. He has also jumped nine places in the batting rankings as well, entering top 25. As a matter of fact, Raza’s ODI batting ranking (22) is better than the likes of Joe Root (24) and Kane Williamson (30).

Raza takes the No.1 spot (all-rounders) with 302 rating points on the back of back-to-back match-winning performances against Sri Lanka in Harare, where he rattled off scores of 92 and an unbeaten 59, plus tidy ten-over spells in both games. Even though Zimbabwe came up short, Raza’s consistency with bat and ball made it impossible to ignore him.
At 39, Raza is the face for Zimbabwe cricket. For years, he’s quietly churned out runs and key wickets, but the last twelve months have seen his impact magnified. These latest half-centuries and economical spells saw him leapfrog two Afghan stars, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi, who now sit in second and third with 296 and 292 points, respectively.

Keshav Maharaj rewarded as well
It’s not just Raza making news—South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has surged to the summit of the ODI bowling rankings after a sensational outing against England at Headingley. The left-arm spinner took 4 wickets for just 22 runs, skittling out England for a paltry 131 and carving out a 31-point lead at the top with 690 rating points. Not long ago, he took a five-wicket haul against Australia as well.
Previously, he was the joint number one alongside Maheesh Theekshana. However, the Sri Lankan bowler has had a poor series against Zimbabwe so far, going wicketless across two ODIs. Meanwhile, India’s Kuldeep Yadav is next in line in the third spot followed by another left-arm spinner in Bernard Scholtz of Namibia.
