The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 isn’t even over yet, and players have already started to direct their attention elsewhere. Not entirely, but still. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins has already started to prepare for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025.
Shami & Cummins getting ready for Test cricket
Cummins confessed this moments before racing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow. Cummins isn’t just SRH’s captain but also Australia’s Test skipper. And wants to win his second consecutive Test mace. The pacer will end his IPL campaign on May 25 and will have less than 3 weeks to prepare for the final showdown against South Africa at Lord’s.
Asked about how his body is holding up at the toss by Ravi Shastri, Cummins said, “I’m feeling good. Four overs are a bit easy on the body.”
A few days ago, we saw Shubman Gill practice with the red ball to prepare for the upcoming India vs. England Test series. Cummins, too, has been hitting the nets similarly. And he isn’t the only SRH bowler preparing for Test cricket. Mohammed Shami is also building up for the longest format of the game.
“I’ve been bowling with Mohammad Shami in the last few days getting ready for Test cricket,” Cummins added.
Both can help each other out. And since Australia and India aren’t facing each other, it harms no one that they are practicing together.
