Leading with the bat, Gill delivered an all-timer, hammering over 750 runs as he came ever-so close to Sunil Gavaskar’s historic record of most runs in a Test series. Taking the reins from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill’s captaincy was heartwarming as well, leading to the series being equalled at 2-2. The stacked Indian top-order is likely to keep Gill out of the final squad, which is likely to be announced near August 20.
