Sai Sudharsan fastest Indian to 2000 T20 runs, clinches IPL 2025 Orange Cap

Sai Sudharsan continued his scintillating form in IPL 2025 with yet another show of brilliance in Ahmedabad. A consistent accumulator at the top of the order, Sudharsan went through the gears in a clinical assault in the GT vs SRH clash. En route his innings, the left-hander went past Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest Indian to reach 2000 T20 runs. He also wrestled back the Orange Cap from Suryakumar Yadav.

Only Shaun Marsh has gotten to 2000 T20 runs quicker than Sai Sudharsan. The Gujarat Titans in the fastest Indian to the milestone. Sachin Tendulkar meanwhile, got to the milestone in 59 innings back in 2011. His last 1000 runs in the format have come in just 22 innings, signalling his penchant for big runs. He was the third fastest Indian to the milestone of 1000 runs last year, but has leapfrogged all his competition to reach the 2k mark.

Sai Sudharsan took the attack to a struggling Sunrisers outfit on a belter of a surface in Ahmedabad. The stylish left-hander struck Mohammed Shami for five boundaries in an over, and raced to 45 within the powerplay. Usually the anchor, Sudharsan showcased his aggressive instincts to clinch back the Orange Cap. The 23-year-old is the first to breach the 500-run milestone this season.

He missed out on a well-deserved half-century in the GT vs SRH game, but will be pleased to have his name in the record books. The Tamil Nadu star has provided his team with a platform to excel and the Titans will hope to build on it. In the 10 games Sudharsan has played this IPL, only once has he failed to score beyond 30, highlighting his consistency.

Ever since bursting onto the scene with GT, Sudharsan has been a record breaker. He became the fastest Indian to the 1500-run mark in IPL as well, previously held by Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The duo had reached the milestone in 44 innings, while Sudharsan has managed to do so in just 35 innings.
