SA vs IND 2nd Test: Team India’s BLOW forces South Africa’s LOW in hosts’ fortress

It took just 23.2 overs to bowl South Africa out for 55 runs in the SA vs IND 2nd Test. And was South Africa’s lowest first innings total since 1932 when Proteas were bowled out for 36 in Melbourne against Australia. With Mohammed Siraj bagging a six-wicket haul, South Africa scored their lowest against a subcontinent team.

South Africa’s 55 today is the LOWEST total made by any team against a subcontinent team in a Test at home.

23.2 overs taken by India are the FEWEST by a subcontinent team to bowl out the opposition ever. #SAvsIND #INDvsSA

It was India’s best bowling performance in Cape Town. After a poor bowling show in Centurion, India were under pressure. But with Mohammed Siraj and jasprit Bumrah leading the charge, they blew South Africa away.

Kyle Verreynne was the top-scorer with 15 runs as Proteas fell like a house of cards to Indian pacers. In fact, India did not even have to call in Ravindra Jadeja as Proteas were bowled out for 55 in 23.2 overs.

And even though India may feel like it was breaching the Cape Town fortress, for South Africa, the venue hasn’t been great.

At this venue, South Africa have been bowled out for 100 or less nine times including Wednesday’s 55.
