Rohit Sharma was involved in a horrible mix-up in India vs Afghanistan’s 1st T20I match in Mohali. Rohit succumbed to Shubman Gill’s failure to respond to his call for a run. The Indian captain went back to the pavilion in fumes.
Rohit has been quick in between the pitch and therefore he has never been out on a mishap while taking a run, since 2018. But, in his comeback match after 14 months in T20Is, Rohit had to leave the crease due to a run out. This broke his 5 years record of not getting dismissed through a runout.

Why return of Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma in T20Is could be a step backward?
After 70 innings, this was the 1st time that Rohit Sharma was run out in a T20I match.
In the post-match presentation, Rohit addressed the incident and said, “(Angry after getting out) Honestly these things happen. When it happens you feel frustrated because you want to be out there and score runs for your team. Wanted Gill to carry on. He played a good innings but got out.”
