India cricket team stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli pledged their unwavering support to the Indian Armed Forces amid Operation Sindoor. Their reactions come after escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, resulting in the suspension of IPL 2025 temporarily. The IPL governing council has decided to suspend IPL 2025 for one week in the backdrop of the attacks made by Pakistan on Indian cities over the last 48 hours.
Rohit, Virat back Indian Army amid Op Sindoor
Taking to social media platform X, Rohit wrote that he was proud of the Indian Armed Forces for the decisions being taken with each passing moment. He urged all Indians to be responsible and to refrain from spreading fake news.
Virat echoed on Rohit’s sentiments and took to social media platform Isntagram to express his support to the Armed Forces.
IPL 2025 suspended
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders,” an press release from IPL read.
So far 58 out of 69 matches have been completed in IPL 2025 so far. The game between PBKS and DC in Dharamsala on Thursday was abandoned mid-way due to a “significant technical failure”. This was around the same time when Pakistan had launched attacks on various Indian cities across the border.
