Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant will likely join his team at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 15. LSG will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19 at their home, which will be their first match after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 restarts. However, some of LSG’s foreign players may not return.
LSG foreign players
LSG have only 6 foreign players. But 3 of them might not return to India for IPL 2025.
- South Africa: Matthew Breetzke, David Miller, Aiden Markram
- West Indies: Nicholas Pooran, Shamar Joseph
- Australia: Mitchell Marsh
Markram, Marsh and Joseph may not return
Aiden Markram has been included in South Africa’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025, and as per his NOC (no objection certificate) provided by Cricket South Africa (CSA), he’ll have to return back by May 26. CSA want their players to travel to England on May 30, and since the IPL 2025 Playoffs begin on May 29, it’s not possible for Markram to play after the group stage.
Then there is Shamar Joseph. He’s been included by the West Indies for the 3-match ODI series against Ireland and England. Which begin on May 21 and will run until June 3, the day of the IPL 2025 Final.
Lastly, one isn’t sure about Mitchell Marsh. Australian players are seemingly uneasy about returning to India. Jake Fraser-McGurk has pulled out, and Mitchell Starc isn’t likely to return either. Nothing has been confirmed regarding Marsh coming back for IPL 2025.
Luckily with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) new temporary replacement policy, LSG can replace them.
