Rishabh Pant is “greatest Indian Test keeper-batter in history”: Southpaw’s ex-IPL team owner

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal couldn’t help but heap praise on Rishabh Pant after his whirlwind knock in IND vs AUS 5th Test. The former DC star raced to a 29-ball fifty in the 2nd innings, registering the second fastest half-century by an Indian in Tests. While DC released Pant ahead of IPL 2025 auction, Jindal did not hide his excitement as he took to social media to dub the southpaw as the greatest Indian Test wicketkeeper batsman in history.

After being associated with DC since his IPL debut, Pant was released by the franchise ahead of the mega auction. He created history at the auction table by becoming the highest buy in IPL history, with LSG breaking the bank to pay Rs 27 cr for the southpaw.

Pant‘s half-century was quite contrasting to his 1st innings where he managed to get 40 runs off 98 deliveries. He decided to depart from the conservative approach to switch on his aggressive mood in the 2nd innings as he helped India extend their lead past 100 runs. While his shot selection was severely criticised in the 4th Test, critics and commentators were simply silenced by Pant’s power-hitting at the SCG. His knock was studded with six fours and three sixes en route to his fifty.
