Ravi Shastri is known for his escapades. The fun-loving former cricketer has some wild stories of his past that one would be shocked to hear. Shastri has provided us with yet another gem, recounting how he took a ride in his mid-interim, way back in 1985.
Talking to Mark Howard on his podcast, The Howie Games, the former Indian coach recounted an incident where he stopped Ian Chappell midway through an interview to take his teammates for a spin in his new car.
The famous incident occurred after the 1985 World Championship of Cricket Final. After India won the final against Pakistan in Melbourne, Ravi Shastri was awarded the ‘Man of the Series’. Apart from the award, Shastri also received an Audi 100.
It was then that the all-rounder decided to ditch his interview with Ian Chappell and take his teammates on a ride in his new car. He and his teammates took a lap of honour at the MCG while Chappell waited for Ravi Shastri to return.
