Popular streaming platform, Kick, is stepping into the esports ring with a major swing. The platform announced that the PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major as the first significant esports tournament to be streamed on their platform. This marks a significant moment for the young platform, often overshadowed by giants like Twitch and YouTube.
Despite initial skepticism and controversies surrounding Kick, their partnership with Bleed Esports earlier this month hinted at their esports ambitions. While establishing themselves as a major player might take time, PGL seems optimistic about the partnership. They even guarantee an “ad-free” viewing experience for the Major, aiming to win over viewers with a clean and uninterrupted broadcast.
Fresh off the massive IEM Katowice 2024, which peaked at 972,000 concurrent viewers, PGL is taking a bold step with the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. This $1.25 million tournament will be streamed ad-free on two dedicated Kick channels, aiming to lure CS2 fans to the platform.

As esports viewership continues to explode (IEM Katowice 2024 grew 33% in peak viewers!), all eyes are on Kick.com. Can they replicate Twitch’s numbers and potentially become the new home for esports streaming? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: this move is a game-changer for the industry.
