Recently, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi had featured in a ‘Q & A’ session on X, where the former drew over 20,000 fans, while the current Pakistan T20I skipper’s session was joined by 4000 fans. But this move has not gone down very well with the PCB, as per a report in the PTI.
As per a source in the PCB, the board isn’t very pleased with the social media sessions, of the top players of the country, following which, their contract clauses could be revised soon. “The PCB will look to revisit some of the clauses that the centrally contracted players need to adhere to,” the source said.
“The clauses covering the social media activities of contracted players are now being reviewed again by the board because it is concerned such public ‘Q and A sessions’ could result in unnecessary controversies,” he said.
Changing PCB Heads
But it seems that PCB doesn’t have much control over the players anyway, because there have been four chairmans in the last 13 months. “Every PCB chairman has tried to run the board in his own way and in some cases, even ignored the written clauses of the central contracts and given special permissions to players in the past 12 months,” the source added.

Meanwhile, now the new chairman Mohsin Naqvi has demanded the details of all the central contract players, and also asked for transcripts of interviews, and social media content.
“Naqvi clearly wants a revised media policy for players and for this the PCB could revise some clauses of the central contracts,” the source said.
