Pakistan cricket team stars Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan are likely to be punished by the International Cricket Council for the gestures that they made in the IND vs PAK tie on September 21 in the Asia Cup. The BCCI has reportedly lodged a separate complaint, citing their provocative gestures during the September 21 Super 4 clash. India beat arch-rivals Pakistan by 6-wickets in the Super 4 tie.
PAK’s Rauf, Farhan to be penalized?
As per reports, Farhan and Rauf are set to be penalized for their actions during the September 21 tie. The former made allegedly mimicked the shooting down of an aircraft, a gesture that instantly reminded Indian supporters of past military confrontations. The latter went a step further as he wielded his bat like a machine gun in celebration after his fifty.
“It is learnt that Rauf is likely to be fined for abusive language and aggressive gestures” during the game against India on Sunday last. Farhan, on the other hand, has pleaded not guilty of any code of conduct violation for his gun-fire celebration, claiming that it is a “traditional way of celebrating in his ethnic Pakhtun tribe” in Pakistan,” the report states.
Earlier, the PCB had lodged complaint against Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, for dedicating a victory over Pakistan to Pahalgam victims recently. And as per various reports, he, along with the BCCI COO Hemang Amin and Cricketing Operations manager Summer Mallapurkar, attender the hearing presided by Richie Richardson.
After the September 14 IND vs PAK match, Suryakumar Yadav had said, “Perfect occasion, taking the time out – we stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile.”
