Six years ago on this day, in an ODI series against South Africa on their home turf, Virat Kohli showcased an exceptional display of batting prowess scoring a remarkable 160*, setting numerous records in the process. Kohli became the only Indian to score a century by running in between the wickets.
Kohli’s remarkable performance left South Africa bewildered as he accumulated a staggering 558 runs across six ODIs, boasting an incredible average of 186 and a striking rate of 99.46.
His tally of 558 runs in the series remains unmatched, earning him the Player of the Series accolade for his heroic contributions. Additionally, Kohli made history by becoming the first Indian captain to lead his team to a bilateral ODI series victory against South Africa in their own backyard.

Throughout the series, Kohli’s dominance was evident. He began with a century in the first ODI, followed by an unbeaten 46 in the second match. In the third ODI, Kohli continued his onslaught with another century, scoring an unbeaten 160 runs.
Despite a slight setback in the fourth ODI, where he made 75 runs, and a rare failure in the fifth ODI with 36 runs, Kohli bounced back strongly in the final match of the series. Ending on a high note, he scored an unbeaten 129 runs, leading India to a resounding 5-1 series victory.
