And Nicholas Pooran finally smashed a fifty in IPL 2025. After starting excellently in the tournament, the LSG batter was going through a lean patch, where runs were hard to come by, the boundaries had dried up, and as a result his team was losing. From being the Orange Cap holder at one stage, Pooran’s form plummeted to a level, where he hadn’t scored a 50+ score in six innings, with the last such innings coming vs GT on April 12.
Nicholas Pooran Returns to Form
Thursday was his day, where he went hammer and Tonks against GT bowlers, and scored his fifty in just 23 deliveries, including four fours and as many sixes. More importantly, he looked the Nicholas Pooran of early IPL 2025, where there was just no way of getting him out, and the bowlers only looked to bowl defensive against him.
Too Late for LSG
Meanwhile, this innings also meant that the southpaw had crossed 500 runs in the season, at an average of over 45. Now, this innings might have come a bit late for Pooran and LSG, since the team is already out of the playoffs race — but counts nonetheless.
As far as the match is concerned, Pooran, along with Mitchell Marsh was instrumental in taking LSG to a score over 230. The latter scored 117 from just 64 deliveries, to push GT on the back foot. In fact, Aiden Markram played his part too, as he went on to score 36 from just 24 deliveries.
