Nat Sciver-Brunt named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for second consecutive time

Nat Sciver-Brunt has clinched the prestigious Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the second consecutive year, solidifying her status as a dominant force in women’s cricket. Throughout 2023, Sciver-Brunt showcased remarkable form, delivering some of her most outstanding performances during the Women’s Ashes against Australia.

Her exceptional record for the year includes amassing 894 runs and taking nine wickets in 18 games. In ODI cricket, Sciver-Brunt continued her dominance, scoring 393 runs in just six games with an impressive average of 131, including three centuries.

This brought her total number of ODI tons to eight, placing her just one behind England’s national record jointly held by Tammy Beaumont and Charlotte Edwards.

The all-rounder also displayed prowess in Test cricket, recording two fifties against Australia and India. At the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Sciver-Brunt emerged as England’s highest run-scorer with 216 runs at a striking rate of 141.17, complemented by a notable 77 against India. Additionally, she made significant contributions with the ball, claiming nine wickets.

A standout moment was her Player of the Series performance in the Ashes series, particularly in the ODIs. In a crucial match, Sciver-Brunt’s fighting century (111*) almost secured victory for England, showcasing her resilience and skill on the field. Her consistent excellence throughout the year has rightfully earned her the title of ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year once again.
