Most IPL hat-tricks: Yuzvendra Chahal draws Punjab Kings level with ex-team Rajasthan Royals

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up the first hat-trick of IPL 2025 in a fine bowling show on Wednesday. Bowling the penultimate over in the CSK vs PBKS clash, Chahal took his second IPL hat-trick. The veteran leg-spinner dismissed Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad in three straight deliveries. It was the fifth ever hat-trick by a Punjab Kings bowler, tying them level with Rajasthan Royals.

Chahal was the fifth player to take a hat-trick while playing for the Punjab Kings. India’s World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh was the first when he picked up two hat-tricks in the IPL 2009. Sam Curran was the last PBKS to pick 3 wickets in 3 balls, having done so in 2019.

They are now level with the Rajasthan Royals, who also have five. Incidentally, it was Yuzvendra Chahal who had taken their fifth hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022. Chahal is just the third player with multiple IPL hat-tricks, after Yuvraj Singh and Amit Mishra. The latter had three, picking one each for Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
