The Delhi Capitals (DC) might be in massive trouble. Four of their seven foreign players might not return in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Well, it’s three of six. That’s because Jake Fraser-McGurk won’t come back to India.
Jake Fraser-McGurk not coming back to India
The Capitals had talked with their overseas players on May 13 regarding their availability from May 17. One of them, JFM, has said no. According to ESPNcricinfo, the opener has informed DC that he’s going to stay back in Australia.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had talked with Cricket Australia (CA) regarding players returning. But two of their players, Mitchell Starc and Fraser-McGurk, were quite shaken by what happened in Dharamshala. That’s why the opener isn’t returning, and Starc isn’t likely to come back either.
Starc & Stubbs in doubt
Starc’s wife and Australia’s women’s cricket team captain, Alyssa Healy, shared the harrowing details not long after. And by reading her account, one can understand why the foreign players don’t want to come back.
Tristan Stubbs might not have been affected by what happened in Dharamshala, but due to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025, Cricket South Africa (CSA) may call him back by May 26. The original NOCs (no objection certificates) stated this, and that remains the case for now.
However, Faf du Plessis might return. He hasn’t confirmed it yet, but he won’t have any NOC issues as he’s retired now. Donovan Ferreira, Dushmantha Chameera, and Sediqullah Atal are likely to come back to India.
