MI Emirates have announced Tim David as their wildcard for the second season of the ILT20. David, who has played for MI in three different leagues (IPL, SA20, and MLC), will join the franchise ahead of their first encounter on January 20 against the Dubai Capitals.
Tim David is a season T20 player and has played franchise cricket all over the world. Apart from the three leagues mentioned above, David has also played in the PSL, BBL, The Hundred, and the T20 Blast.
However, fans might be wondering how a player can be added to a team’s squad a day before the match, and that too without any player getting replaced or injured.
This is because of a rule that ILT20 created in 2022. As per the rule, any franchise can add up to players in their squad during any stage of the season. This allows a franchise to increase its squad strength from the original 22 players to 24.
