Maharaja Trophy: Unbelievable triple super over drama as Hubli Tigers defeat Bengaluru Blasters

In a thrilling match on Friday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Karnataka Maharaja Trophy 2024 witnessed a historic three super overs between the Hubli Tigers and the Bengaluru Blasters.

After a tied regular match, the two teams went into super over. However, despite two super-overs, the match stayed undecided. The third super over finally saw the Hubli Tigers emerge as winners, thanks to a last-ball four from Manvanth Kumar.

After the teams were deadlocked at the end of the usual 40 overs, they moved to the super overs to determine the winner. In a rare event, it took three super overs before the Hubli Tigers finally emerged winner.

How did it lead to the super-over?

In the second inning, the Blasters equalled the Tigers’ total of 164, with Kranthi Kumar being run out on the final delivery, leading to the need for a super over. In the second super over, Hubli batted first and scored 8/0, and the Blasters equalled that with the score of 8/1.

In the decisive third superover, the Blasters managed 12/1. However, Hubli finally broke the tie, with Manvanth Kumar hitting a boundary off the last ball to secure the win, needing four runs off the final delivery.
