KS Bharat misses simple stumping, Fans rue absence of Sanju Samson

India’s hopes took a blow on Day 2 of the 2nd Test against England when wicket-keeper KS Bharat missed a straightforward stumping chance of Ollie Pope. This blunder, in the next ball after dismissal of Ben Duckett, has sparked debate on social media, with many fans questioning Bharat’s skills and lamenting the absence of Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan.

Ollie Pope, who scored a magnificent century in the first Test, started cautiously this time, struggling against India’s spinners, particularly R Ashwin. However, the missed stumping proved pivotal as it allowed him to settle in and eventually flourish.

Why is KS Bharat in the team? So many options starting from Kishan-Samson to veterans like Sheldon Jackson.

They pick him only for wicketkeeping.

He can’t do that as well.

Another day of asking which quota is applied for KS Bharat in ICT.

We have someone like Sanju Samson yet this mediocrity plays over him.#INDvENG pic.twitter.com/zAm4gmv9lZ

KS Bharat? What have you done? Na runs ban rahe hai na keeping dhang se ho rahi hai. Atleast Saha was a top class keeper and used to occasionally score runs at home but here KS is proving to be worse than him.

KS Bharat has not scored much as a batsman?
As a keeper he has dropped simple chances.
What’s the use?
Seriously need Pant back

While Ollie Pope battled, his partner Zak Crawley took complete control, feasting on the Indian bowling. His six-foot-five frame gave him an advantage in handling the bounce, and he utilized the sweep shot judiciously to counter the spinners. Two sixes off Ashwin highlighted his dominance, taking England to a hundred in just 20 overs.

KS Bharat in hot waters

KS Bharat miss has become a talking point, with many fans expressing their disappointment on social media. Some called for Samson, known for his aggressive wicket-keeping style and quick reflexes, while others felt Ishan Kishan explosive batting could have strengthened the lower order.

Whether KS Bharat miss proves truly costly remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly given England the upper hand at a crucial stage in the Test. Pope’s batting prowess could prove decisive if he continues to capitalize on his second life, leaving India with the challenge of finding a way to break through and regain control of the match.
