Team India’s stand-in captain, KL Rahul achieved a special milestone in IND vs SA 3rd ODI at Paarl on Thursday, December 21. The 31-year-old became the first Indian wicket-keeper batter in 14 years to score 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year.
KL Rahul is only the second Indian after MS Dhoni to achieve this feat in ODIs.
In 2021, Rishabh Pant became the first wicket-keeper batter after MSD to score 1000+ international runs in a calendar year.
However, KL Rahul is the only Indian after Dhoni to reach the milestone in ODIs.
Talking about the game, KL Rahul got dismissed for 21 runs off 35 balls. He shared a 52-run partnership with Sanju Samson after early wickets but failed to keep going.
With series evenly poised at 1-1, the third ODI will be a must win for both sides to secure the ODI series.
