India cricket team pacer and the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy Jasprit Bumrah has been named the captain of Cricket Australia’s Test team of the year. The premium bowler, who became the fastest Indian pacer to bag 200 Test wickets, has been in red-hot form in 2024, finishing the year with most wickets taken by any player. Surprisingly, Australia have not only snubbed Pat Cummins as captain but haven’t included him in the team either.
Jasprit Bumrah named captain of Australia’s team of 2024
Two Indians made it to Australia’s team of the year. Apart from Bumrah, record breaker Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as opener. The southpaw had a phenomenal year in 2024, smashing the most number of sixes in the calendar year while also going on to amass most runs made by an Indian opener in a year. Heroes of the IND vs AUS series – Pat Cummins and Travis Head – have been left out of the team. Instead, keeper-batter Alex Carey and pacer Hosh Hazlewood are the only Australians to make it to the list.
