Veteran England pacer James Anderson confirmed that he will retire after the first Test of the summer at Lord’s. Reports emerged of England coach Brendon McCullum making a 5-day trip to the UK to convince the veteran pacer to bring the curtains down on his glorious career, keeping in mind the team’s future. Anderson took to Instagram to share a post and revealed that he would indeed be retiring at the start of the summer while going on to propose a vote of thanks.

After 21 years, he has played the second most Test matches (186) by a player. He is the third-highest wicket-taker, has 32 four-wicket and five-wicket hauls, and 3 ten-wicket hauls. He has become the most-capped pacer bowler and has bowled the fourth most balls in Test history. He played with players younger than his international cricket career (Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir).
