It’s confirmed! Jasprit Bumrah to play only three Tests in India vs England series

One of the very critical questions going into the India vs England series, for the visitors would have been, how many matches will the best pacer in the world, Jasprit Bumrah will play? Some speculated it would be two, and some said three. The cat is finally out of the bag, as coach Gautam Gambhir clarified, he would only play in three Tests. The coach made this massive revelation on Thursday, before the Team’s departure to England.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload to be Managed

Having said that, no call still has been taken, what Test Jasprit Bumrah will play. It could be alternate matches, or he could be rested after the first two matches. The call has come to preserve India’s finest pacer, after he once again suffered a back injury during the final Test in Australia.

Enough Pace Resources for Team India

Many reports earlier had suggested that another back injury could be career-threatening, and hence the move has been made. Now it remains to be seen, as to who could be the replacements for Bumrah. Meanwhile, the Indian team has decent pacers in their ranks, including the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh.

In the Australia series, Bumrah had finished as the highest wicket-taker — where in 5 matches he claimed a massive 32 wickets, despite picking up an injury in the last match.
