The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is in its business end. This is the worst time for teams to slack off, with every match ever so crucial in the race to the playoffs. So far, we have completed six weeks of action, with the latest one being as entertaining as anyone.
The week started with an IPL innings for the ages. 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a dream outing against the Gujarat Titans (GT), with him blazing a 35-ball hundred, the fastest ever by an Indian. Still, he has not made it to this week’s Best XI. This is because of his two failures after that whirlwind knock.
Meanwhile, other top-order batters, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer showed tremendous consistency. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and GT players have dominated in the sixth week, while the two wins that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recorded were quite beneficial as well.
InsideSport takes a look at the Team of the Week for IPL 2025, Week (Apr 21-27).

Shubman Gill-Prabhsimran Singh to open
Two players, born in Punjab, have made it as openers. Shubman Gill was in sublime touch throughout the week, compiling 160 runs (the most) across two innings at an average of 80. He struck two classy half-centuries, including a top score of 84. His strike rate of 181.81 was fascinating to witness. Against SRH, he was out of this word, hammering a 38-ball 76.
Prabhsimran continued to be a revelation at the top for Punjab Kings, smashing 145 runs in two innings. His 91-run blitz was one of the standout knocks and finished the week with aplomb, laced with 11 fours and 10 sixes. The retention choice by PBKS is doing wonders!
Shreyas Iyer, Buttler & Parag form middle-order
Another GT player, Jos Buttler was clinical in both outings this week, racking up 114 runs while being dismissed just once. The England veteran looked in command with two impactful fifties and had a remarkable SR of 180.95. After the fabulous starts that Sai Sudharsan and Gill give, Buttler is an ideal commodity at number three.
Shreyas Iyer led from the front with 117 runs in two matches, including a brisk 72. His innings came at a strike rate of 177.27. The first one was against CSK while chasing when he was the Player of the Match for his impeccable 72. Last night, Iyer demoted himself due to a tactical decision and made an impactful 45.
