It is official. The IPL 2025 season has been called off for a week amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The PBKS vs DC clash on Thursday was abandoned midway, with the BCCI and IPL governing council to decide on the course of action. In the meantime, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants have issued ticket refund information for fans.
LSG, SRH issue ticket refunds after IPL 2025 suspended
With the IPL suspended as things stand, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants have issued ticket refund information. On Friday, the Rishabh Pant-led LSG were set to host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Sunrisers, meanwhile, would have squared off against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. With the suspension in effect, both games were called off.
Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants have since issued social media statements suggesting details for refunds will follow. Will specific instructions are yet to be confirmed, it is likely that fans will be reimbursed via their original mode of payment.
Other than LSG and SRH, no teams have since issued any updates regarding the ticketing situation. Should IPL 2025 resume, the tickets issued could be deferred to the later date the game is moved to.
Players sent home, BCCI to arrange travel after IPL 2025 suspension
The decision came after the PBKS vs DC clash was halted midway in Dharamsala due to security concerns. Fans and the players were evacuated promptly. With the Dharamasala airspace closed, the BCCI arranged a special train for players, officials, broadcasters and families.
The cricket boards of Australia, the West Indies and South Africa had expressed concerns for the safety of their players and were in constant contact with the Indian Cricket Board. The BCCI since decided to send all the players home, and will assist in the logistics of the same.
“They will be heading back home; we will help with all the logistics, but every foreign player and members of the support staff will be headed back to their respective country. Depending on what is decided in the future, a call will be taken on them returning for the league. But as of now, they will be headed back home,” an IPL official told the Times of India.
