IPL 2025 rising stars of week (Apr 28-May 4): Ayush Mhatre obvious pick, Vipraj & Prabsimran in list again

With the IPL 2025 league stages coming close to its end, the individual performances are only getting better. The youngsters have no fear left — and that is what 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre showed with his 94 vs RCB, albeit in a losing cause. Prior to that there was a certain Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had gone on to score the second-fastest IPL ton.

So, InsideSport takes a look at this week’s rising stars.

Vipraj Nigam, a New Star in the Making

Even though, in the last few games DC have been found wanting, but all-rounder Vipraj Nigam is just upping his mark with each outing. In the 11 matches in the season, he has scored 122 runs at a strike-rate of 179, and also picked up 9 wickets at an economy of 9.48. IN the two games of the week, he scored 38 runs and picked up two wickets as well. Although, the teenagers have been hogging all the limelight in this IPL, he has added a different value to DC.

Ayush Mhatre Isn’t Far Behind

Even though CSK aren’t in the race for IPL playoffs this year, but the work for building team next year, starts now. And teen sensation Ayush Mhatre would be a vital cog in that. In the run-chase vs RCB, he scored 48-ball 94, nearly chasing down 214. That said, he averages 40 in the entire season. Had he been brought earlier by the management, perhaps the team would have been in a better position.

Can Team India Accommodate Prabhsimran Singh?

54 vs CSK, and followed by 91 vs LSG. Prabhsimran Singh has been one of the best performers for his team, showing he thoroughly deserved to be retained by PBKS. Now, he has 437 runs in 11 outings, at an average of 39 and a strike-rate of 170. The Indian management need to somehow get a way to include him in the T20I side.

Ayush Badoni Is Best LSG Batter

To score 74 vs PBKS, when the chips were down and the match was more-or-less lost; Ayush Badoni did not give up and kept playing his shots. Despite batting fairly low in the batting order, the 25-year-old has managed to score 326 runs in 11 matches, at an average of 36. When the likes of Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, and Mitchell Marsh are failing, Badoni is emerging as a rare talent.
