It was just a few days back, that the IPL 2025 was stopped due a security threat, but already the preparations have started, to commence the league again. The BCCI is soon going to come up with a revised schedule, as the foreign players return to their respective bases. On Sunday, Shubman Gill’s GT became the first team to get back to training, as per a report in The Times of India.
GT Resume Training for IPL 2025
“Yes, we have started training. The boys looked sharp, and we are ready to go,” a GT official told TimesofIndia.com. It also seems that the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have verbally asked the teams to assemble their squads, since the IPL 2025 is likely to start by May 16.
As far as the GT training is concerned, they were without English batter Jos Buttler and South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee. “Our entire squad stuck around. Only Jos and Gerald, but they will come back as required,” said the official. Meanwhile, GT is at the top of the points table with 16 points, and are almost through to the playoffs. In fact, they are one of the serious contenders for the trophy.
Buttler & Coetzee Yet to Join Team
Some of their players have been in top form in IPL 2025. Sai Sudharsan (509) and Shubman Gill (508) are one of the highest run-getters in the league. On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna is the Purple cap holder with 20 wickets. Siraj too has 15 wickets, while Sai Kishore is at 14.
The IPL this year was abruptly stopped during the May 8 match between PBKS and DC in Dharamsala. As the military tensions between India and Pakistan rose, the match had to be stopped and the players had to be safely evacuated to safe destinations.
