IPL 2024: From DLF to Tata, Check Out all IPL Title Sponsors over the years

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is just 2 months away. Ahead of the mega tournament, the Tata Sons group has matched the highest bid and has retained themselves as the title sponsor of IPL for the next 5 years. Over the years a number of groups have been the title sponsor of the premium tournament, ranging from DLF, Pepsi, Vivo to Tata.

The Tata group was the title sponsor of IPL since 2022. In the recent bidding race Aditya Birla group set the highest bid of 2500 crores which was matched by the Tata group and thus the latter retained their title sponsor deal.

The BCCI over the years send out tenders for groups to bid for the new cycle. As of now, Tata will continue to be the sponsor of IPL for the next 5 years (2024-2028 cycle).

Let us take a look of the IPL Title Sponsor over the years:-

DLF

DLF were the first ever title sponsor of the Indian Premier League since it’s inception. The IPL kick started back in 2008 and for the next 5 years (2008-2012) DLF were title sponsor. The real estate developer won the bidding rights for a worth of Rs 40 crore per year for the next 5 years.

Pepsi

From 2013, Pepsi became the new title sponsor for IPL. The beverage company won the bidding rights for a worth of Rs. 79.2 crore per year. Pepsi remained the sponsor for 3 years before the deal was terminated. The deal got cancelled after CSK and RR got suspended.

Vivo

The BCCI gave Vivo the title sponsor for 2 years (2016-2017) for a sum of Rs 100 crore. After 2 years, Vivo retained the title rights for a whooping sum of Rs 440 crore. But Vivo remained for 2 more years (2018-2019). But then Vivo cancelled the deal during the military standoff between India vs China. Vivo returned again for 2021 for a price of Rs 440 crore but left again after an year.

Dream11

Dream11 obtained the title sponsorship for a solitary year in 2020. After the 2020 season, it was game over for Dream11 as Vivo returned again.

Tata

Tata was given the title sponsor after Vivo left. The group won the title rights for a sum of Rs 335 crore. Tata remained as the title sponsor till the end of the cycle for 2 years (2022-2023). And now the Tata group has won the rights again for a sensational sum of Rs 500 crore.
