India’s Deepti Sharma is ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December

Deepti Sharma has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December 2023. Her outstanding performances in two Test matches against England and Australia and a stellar display in an ODI against Australia secured her the accolade.

In the Test victory over England, batting at No.7, Deepti played a crucial role, scoring 67 and contributing significantly with the ball, picking 5 for 7 and 4 for 32. Deepti’s heroics meant England collapse from 108 for 3 to 136 all out in the first innings.

In the Test against Australia, Deepti continued her impactful performances, taking the crucial wicket of Australian captain Alyssa Healy and scoring a vital 78 lower down the order.

Deepti’s influence extended to the ODIs, where she showcased her bowling prowess by taking a five-wicket haul in the second ODI against Australia, restricting them to a total of 258 for 8.

During the three T20 International matches against England, Deepti demonstrated commendable bowling efficiency, conceding runs at just 5.88 per over, emphasizing her consistency and control in the shorter format of the game. These all-around performances stood out, earning her the well-deserved recognition as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month.
