IND vs SA: Sachin Tendulkar heaps praise on KL Rahul after incredible Centurion ton

Indian star KL Rahul made history on Wednesday by scoring a thunderous century in the 1st Test between India and South Africa in Centurion. Rahul played an outstanding innings of 101 in the IND vs SA, guiding his team to a respectable total of 245. The incredible feat was applauded by none other than legendary batsman Sachin Tandenkular.

“Well played @klrahul. What impressed me was his clarity of thought. His footwork looked precise and assured, and that happens when a batter is thinking right.” Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X( formerly known as Twitter)

Rahul’s century, particularly his score of 101, is set to be a significant highlight of this series. Notably, Rahul has now become the first overseas batsman to score multiple Test centuries in Centurion. Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar lauded the performance of the youngster as he provided quite some problems to a rather strong South African bowling contingent.

This century is crucial in the context of this Test. India would be happy with 245 considering where they were at one… pic.twitter.com/Dtw9HpjAIC

In addition to his overseas record, Rahul has also become only the third Indian to hit two centuries in a Boxing Day Test, joining the ranks of Sachin Tendulkar and Ajinkya Rahane. He is the second Indian, after Sachin, to achieve back-to-back Boxing Day tons. Tendulkar previously scored Boxing Day centuries in 1998 and 1999, while Rahane accomplished this feat in 2014 and 2020.

India posted a total of 245 runs in the first innings after being at 208/8 at the start of the day. Rahul reached his century with a six over deep mid-wicket, depositing Gerald Coetzee over the stands. His century came in just 133 deliveries and included 14 fours and 4 sixes. Rahul was eventually dismissed for 101 by Nandre Burger.
