On the third day of the Rajkot Test, ever since India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal came back to the middle, to resume his innings after retiring hurt the previous day, he was a man on a mission. While runs were coming easy, he wanted to make sure, he deflated the confidence of the opposition, by his attacking stroke play, or Bazball, or his version, Jaisbal.
At one point, Yashasvi slammed three back-to-back sixes to veteran James Anderson. That meant, he had already slammed 10 sixes in his innings, that is the highest by any Indian ever in a Test. The previous record was jointly held by Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mayank Agarwal — of hitting eight sixes each.
Not just that, Yashasvi has also become the batsman with most sixes in a Test series by an Indian. The previous record was held by Rohit Sharma – who had hit 19 sixes in the series by South Africa in 2019. Below him is Harbhajan Singh with 14, in the 2010 series vs New Zealand.
