The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is hell bent on ensuring that Kolkata will host the IPL 2025 final as per the original schedule. As per the revised schedule, the final has been moved out of the West Bengal capital owing to forecast for rain around June 3. Reports have claimed that Ahmedabad will host the final instead, but nothing has been made official yet.
Kolkata wants to host IPL 2025 final
As per RevSportz, the CAB reached out to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Kolkata and the Indian Meteorological Department in New Delhi seeking weather patterns for June 3. These reports have been submitted to the BCCI by the association. The report obtained from RMC states that it is too early to make a prediction for June 3 and that it would only be possible to do so by May 25.
“We remain confident that things will work out because we have done a very good job in organising everything. Also, you can’t predict weather patterns so early and we have submitted all official documents to this effect,” CAB said, as per the publication.
Delhi to host IPL 2025 playoff matches?
As per Times of India, a source has claimed that Delhi is also in the race to host the playoff matches, with Ahmedabad most likely to host the final. The source added that the final was moved out of Kolkata due to high chances of rain on June 3.
“The final was moved out of Kolkata due to forecasts for heavy rain around June 3, the scheduled date for the final. Weather forecasts for Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai are currently clear,” a source said.
