Australia dominated the Women’s ODI team of the year 2023, with five stars featuring in the XI. ICC named Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththathu as the skipper of the team of the year. Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner and Annabel Sutherland were the Australians who dominated the list.

Australia dominates Women’s ODI team of the year 2023
With 485 runs under her belt in just one year, Phoebe Litchfield was the second-highest run-getter in the year in women’s ODIs, averaging 53.8 with the bat with a century and four fifties. Captain Athapaththu’s sublime form throughout the year saw her rack up 415 runs in just eight ODIs, averaging 69.16 and notably scoring at a rate of over 125.
Ellyse Perry managed to squeeze into the XI despite having failed to score a century in 2023.
The top-scorer in the year in women’s ODIs, Amelia Kerr was one of the contenders for the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023.

Beth Mooney was yet again outstanding in the middle-order in ODIs, making 439 runs at an average over 60. Nat Sciver-Brunt played only six ODIs in the year, but such was the impression that she made that she forced her way into the Women’s ODI Player of the Year shortlist and the best XI of the year.
Ash Gardner, the leading wicket taker in women’s cricket in 2023, cemented her place in this XI with her impressive performances over the past year.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has been named the captain of the ICC’s men’s ODI Team of the Year after a brilliant World Cup campaign. A total of six Indians, including Virat Kohli, features in the XI.
