Gujarat Titans (GT) have done extremely well ever since their inclusion in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. In the last three years, they have made the Playoffs twice. Winning the title in their inaugural season and reaching the final in 2024. There is no doubt; they are the best team in the IPL in the last 4 years.
But when Hardik Pandya left as their captain last year, GT struggled. With Shubman Gill becoming their skipper, it took them time to get back on their feet. But now, they are back.
IPL 2025 performance so far
As of April 21, GT has a 5-2 record and is placed 1st on the points table. They are in the best of positions to reach the Playoffs.
Wins: MI (ranked 6th), RCB (ranked 3rd), SRH (ranked 9th), RR (ranked 8th), DC (ranked 2nd)
Losses: PBKS (ranked 4th), LSG (ranked 5th)
A glance at their records will show that they have beaten strong and weak teams. They have wins over the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the two best teams after GT. And even their losses are against strong sides like Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
IPL 2025 Playoffs: KKR Qualification Scenarios
16 points is usually what guarantees your IPL 2025 Playoffs qualification. And GT would aim for that. Last year, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) did qualify with 14 points, but in 2022 and 2023, 16 points was the cutoff for the final four. This suggests GT needs to win just 3 of their remaining 7 matches.
This seems easy on paper. And in fairness, for them it is. Although they are on the road and will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) away from home. KKR has a 1-2 record at Eden Gardens; this bodes well for GT. As for RR, they are placed 8th on the points table and have lost their last four matches.

GT has a 3-1 record in Ahmedabad, and they face teams like the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home, the two worst teams of the IPL so far. Getting 3 wins from here should be easy.
What Shubman Gill and co. would aim for is a top 2 finish. And they might be able to do that with 4 wins in 7 matches. In the last 3 years, only one team has gained 18 points and not made the top 2. GT look on their way to the IPL 2025 Playoffs, and that too with relative ease.
